Melanoma

My husband has stage 4 metastatic melanoma in his lungs. He has had ,surgery, radiotherapy and 6 months of immunotherapy but it has not worked. He is really depressed but will not talk about it. I feel so helpless.

  • Hello Welsh,

I am so sorry to hear your husband has stage 4 metastatic melanoma and that all the treatment options he has tried have not worked. Having to deal with feeling depressed must also be very difficult for him and difficult for you too especially as he is reluctant to talk about it.

We have some helpful information on our website on depression and cancer which you can read here.

Feel free also to ring our nurses and talk things through with them and I am sure they will have some good advice on how best to support him at the moment.

I hope you will also hear from some of our members who have also had depression as a result of cancer and that they will share their own story with you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi there just wondering how things are now with you and your husband.. My mother has melanoma which has spread to lung and now lymph nodes. They gave her surgery, radiotherapy and now starting immunotherapy soon.

It's hard when you feel helpless but I suppose all we can do is be there.
