Hi everyone!!
My story starts in February 2014 after going to see my GP after having some dizzy spells. The doctor that I saw (who later I was told was a junior doctor) told me that I had a gastric reflux . .. he gave me somè Gaviscon and sent me home.
I took this until April where I got up one Wednesday morning and fell back in to bed having what my partner recalls as either a fit or a stroke. Paramedics took me into my local A&E where, after examining me for all of 5 minutes, told me I had a migraine and to go home.
I had another dizzy spell as soon as I got home. I called my GP again, who luckily was a senior doctor in the surgery. He thought that I'd probably had a stroke so put me on Asprins and referred me to the stroke clinic.
When I walk in to see the doctor at the stroke clinic, he sent me straight to X-Ray for a CT Scan to find out more about what going on. After having this scan, they asked me to have a MRI scan. Twenty minutes later when I got back to the clinic, he told me I had a brain tumour. I was admitted straight into the hospital, being told it would be dangerous me going home.
It was quickly decided that they did not have the facilities to treat me, so 36 hours after diagnosis I was transferred to University Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW).
After a brain biopsy, I was diagnosed with a grade 2/3 glioblastoma. Unfortunately, they were unable to remove the tumor as it was all tangled up with my brain stems.
.....
Two years later I'm still hanging on in there. I have to have Chemotherapy (tablets) 5 days out of every 28 days and have to take Temozolomide twice a day. I try and get on with life as best as I can, luckily I have an amazing partner and 3 children who all take care of me when they see I need some help
I still get dizzy spells but they only last for a few minutes and are easier to control.
Im always around for a chat if anyone wants to say hi.
