  • Hi Teresa, I'm glad to read that you are 2 years into recovery though sad about the effects you have been left with. I don't know anything about your condition but I have had a lot of problems recently with my throat. Difficulty swallowing, dry mouth, odd taste and swelling on the right side where my tonsils are. ENT have said there is no cancer but I am not reassured. How did you find out you had this condition and what did your treatment entail? Best wishes Linda

  • Hi Teresa - my husband was diagnosed with tonsil cancer 11 months ago and it only came to light when the lymph nodes on the right side of his neck became swollen. It was diagnosed by a needle aspiration of the node and a biopsy of his tonsils which were then removed. The treatment was tonsillectomy, 5 cycles of chemotherapy, 30 sessions of VMAT radiotherapy and a neck dissection as the lymph node was still active. He is now in remission and we ate positive for the future. I would ask for a second opinion if you arent happy with your previous consultation. I wont lie the treatment is pretty horrible and he had to have the teeth in the path of the radiotherapy beam removed even though there was nothing wrong with them and a RIG feeding tube inserted as he was unanle to swallow due to the painful effects of the treatment but wevare out the other side and he is still jete which is more important. He has some side effects left -  dry mouth, changes in how he tastes things and a dropped shoulder ne he feels itsva small price to pay for being in remission. Anyway hope this answers some of your questions and good luck .
