Hi Everyone

Hi my name is Mandy, I was diagnosed with breast cancer in May, had a lumpectomy and lymph node clear result in June, because of the grade of tumour(3) and the results of the oncotype dx test, going me a high score of recurrence, I am now about to have my 5th chemo of 6, then radiotherapy and hormone therapy to follow.

I lost my hair 2 weeks after my 1st chemo, was a bit traumatic seeing myself bald, but have got used to myself now, have lovely new hair ( don't like to call it a wig)and lots of hats and scarves. The chemo has been awful, had so many side effects, but with the great support of my family and The Breast Care Nurses, I have got through each one

On my good week,( the one before my next chemo), I always do something thats makes me feel good, I put on my makeup, have a day out a meal a nice walk, and forget about whats going on.

  • Hello Mandy,

Welcome to Cancer Chat and thank you for sharing your story so far with us. It's great to hear that you've got such good support from your family and nurse team but also readlly good to hear that you're able to do something really nice for yourself during your good weeks. I hope that there are many more of those to come!

Stay in touch Mandy and let us know how you get on with the rest of your treatment.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello Mandy,

How are you feeling now, had your last chemo yet? You seems to have coped very well, must have been such a shock. :-(

I have the same grade tumor as you and waiting for my oncotype test results, should be this week...(hopefully).........really nervous as don't want chemo but trying to prepare for the worst. :-(

Sorry to jump in but trying to find someone else who had the test. :-)

    Take care. x
