small cell lung cancer

My 48yr old husband was diagnosed in Aug 2015 with sclc that has spread to his adrenal glands. He had 6 sessions of chemo and 5 sessions of radiotheraphy to his brain. All treatment finished in Jan 2016 and so far he has been keeping well.He gets check ups and xrays every 2 months and his oncologist is very pleased with how hes responded .Hes now started to complain of niggling headaches and itchy eyes and also a strange sensation in his chest.Im so worried its the cancer on the move again but he keeps telling me to stop worrying.Hes due for a check up at the end of Oct.Any advise would be much appreciated

  • Hello and thanks for your post

Whenever anyone asks about any new symptom we almost always tell them to see their doctor and get checked out to be on the safe side. This is because we can’t say for sure what might be the matter. With any new symptom after cancer treatment, there is the chance that a recurrence could be a possibility but there is probably a much more ordinary and less serious cause.

If your husband’s symptoms persist probably the best thing to do is to contact his specialist team at the hospital for further advice. There may also be a specialist nurse there who you could discuss your concerns with.

I hope this is of use.  Please do get back to us if you have any more questions or call us on 0808 800 4040. We are here from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

    Kind Regards,
    Celene
