ORAL cancer

I had surgery for 14 hours for ORAL cancer which involved removal of my jaw bone and replaced with bone and muscle from my hip bone 3 months ago. It has been massive and wondered if there was anyone who has had the same.

  • Hi.

My Dad had the same sort of thing - we weren't too close at the time and he doesn't talk about it too much so I'm not 100% of what was actually done but it sound similar to your situation.

He played a lot (and still does a bit) of golf and they had a trophy made in the shape of a jaw bone for a golf tournament.

All I know is he had a tough time but he's an inspiration to us all some 20 years on - especially to my sister who is now battling stage 2 breast cancer.

Good luck - keep your spirits up.
