hi from a new member

Hi everyone,

My older brother was diagnosed with secondary cancer last April and was told he has 6 to 9 months to live.He had chemo and came through it really well, having only suffered with mouth ulcers. He has been really well through out but three weeks ago hee startd with a great deal of pain...it turns out a tumour is pressing on a nerve and was given medication to help with the pain....which is helping him but making him very sleepy, so much so he is to tired to eat or sometimes drink. He is 74 and lives alone..he says he doesnt feel ill as such, its just the terrible pain he is in,we cn see he has lost a conciderable amount of weight even in the last week...what can we get for him maybe in a drink form that would feed him? he has fortisips but i think he needs something more. I am sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place but this is new to me and I am not sure where to post...thank you for taking the time to read this and ant help would be really appreciated.

  • Hello Karen, I have just joined this site and ur post was the first I have read, my husband has a grade 4 brain tumour. I'm sorry ur brother is in pain, I have previously experienced my stepfather living with bowel cancer which spread 2 his liver and other organs, he was provided with nutritional drinks which I think were a bit like a milkshake but contained vitamins etc so was basically a meal, these were given on prescription by his doctor, do u have a macmillan nurse? Their help and support is brilliant, I hope this helps? Take care, Nicky x
