Bladder Cancer, liver nodules + addition to bone progression

Hello everybody, I am a desperate daughter seeking alternative as a source of hope to help my father. I'm Andrea, 33 years old, I am Brazilian and I lost my mother 12 years ago with a devastating cancer of the oesophagus that in 5 months, occurred in the stomach, bones, and peritoneum, did not have time, knowledge or structure and to extend it. In May 2015, after two cystectomies, we discovered a bladder cancer, pathological staging pT2b, pN1, PMX.
He has 59 years ex-smoker (smoked for 40 years), diabetes and sedentary. After adjuvant tests accuse bone metastasis without progression. He underwent radical cystectomy + urostomy and after adjuvant chemotherapy with cisplatin + gemcitabine. After 6 cycles of chemotherapy without have much effect, my father suffered urinary infections that were detected and properly treated with antibiotics, intestinal sub-occlusions treated with fasting and specific medication, esophageal candidiasis, scabies and pneumonia, after this period routine examinations were was carried out and the disease stabilized. Last month we performed kidney ultrasound with doppler (to treat kidney failure (he has a bad diet and not drinking water)) and also routine CT scans and liver nodules were detected in addition to bone progression.
I was guided by my father's oncologist, researching studies and seek information on such canceri, but I realized that there are no active clinical research for him in Brazil.
I found work and research out of my parents and I wonder if somebody else in the group participates in clinical research?

Today he started a cycle with a new drug called vinflunine, 1 dose every 3 weeks.

He is weak and with strong bone pain. It uses oxycontim + dipyrone and present psychiatric disorders.

Sorry for my terrible English :)

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat AndreaV although I'm sorry to hear about your dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer last year.

It sounds like your dad has been through a lot since being diagnosed but it's great he has you to support him and that you're trying to find other ways to help him. What clinical research are you interested in specifically? If you could tell us a little bit more other members who may have participated in this type of research will then be able to reply and tell you a little bit more about it. I have found a section on our website where you can find out more about clinical trials for certain cancer types. I think these are UK based but it could be a step in the right direction. Just click here to find out more.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind Regards,
