sarcoma

Hello everybody,

I am 25 years old. Last January I was diagnosed with malignant fibrous histiocytoma (a type of sarcoma), a subcutaneuos mass in my left leg. At that time my metastatic workup was free. I had an operation to excise the tumor and because it was high grade I had to go through adjuvant radiotherapy which I have finished last June. I thought it was over and I can proceed with my life but two weeks later I experienced severe chest pain, another 2 weeks later I coughed something and the pathology confirmed lung metatstases as well as CT later on. Two weeks ago I started my first chemo and my next cycle is next week.

I want everybody to wish me luck with this and if anybody had an experience with sarcoma, I will be glad if you share it with me :)

  • Hi Kareem,

I have not had expereince with sarcoma before, but I am sending my thoughts your way! I'm on this site because my dad was recently diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. How are you feeling now?

  • Hello,

    thanks for your interaction.

well about how I am feeling, right now I am coping and holding up because I am blessed with the support of the whole family and all my friends and colleages. Worst part was the shock of the diagnosis. Right now I don't know my chances, but I started not to care the first time I had a cure chance of 90% , but life has its own terms. I can't say my case is advanced but I think what I need right now to stop worrying. Of course I had my highs and lows and will still have them along the way, but I have learnt to let go.

I don't know if I will change my mind later on or not, but I am feeling fine that way.

I wish your dad best of luck and I would be glad to share more experiences along my fight against cancer :)
