Hello fellow cancer friends,
There are certain things in life that change you for the rest of your life.
Actually there are many but cancer has been one of the most profound mind altering experiences. I have found that not being thrown by other's fearful responses the most challenging. I could be feeling positive with good news from my oncologist to a 180 degree turn in mood and fear from some fear in others sensed or actually verbally conveyed by other'sThis is yet another challenge to being dx with cancer. What seems like good news a minute ago is discounted as terror in someone else as everyone is absolutely terrified of cancer. When this happens, I tend to trip over my own feet wondering if I am delusional for feeling good about good news. I recall being terrified of cancer the day before I was told that I had it as well.
It is difficult at times to know the reality of this awful disease. I guess the challenge is to create your own reality and in the face of differing perspectives, even your own.
