son with stage iv bowel secondary liver cancer

my 34 year old son was diagnosed with stage iv bowel cancer, secondary liver cancer, had cancer in some lymph nodes and a tumour small in his lung.  This was after having been sent home from accident and emergency department in huge pain, which we found out once we managed to pursuade out of hours doctor to have him readmitted was due to his bowel blocking.  Subsequent tests, scans etc revealed the magnitude of the ill ess.  He had the bowel tumour removed early may and has just completed 3 of eight two weekly 3day in hospital  chemo regimes.  Has got a clot in his thigh.  Very hard as a mum to see your son like this, obviously huge family support for him and his new wife, just somewhere between despair and utter despair at the moment.

  • Hi, so sorry to hear your son is going through this. I'm 34 myself and couldn't imagine what your son is going through. Being a mum to a sick child no matter what their age is awful. I'm going through this with my mum. She has stage 4 brain tumour. A glioblastoma. It's hard watching our loved ones go through this. My friends brother has the same as your son. He is about 36. But after some new treatment his liver is cancer free....they are just trying to treat the rest now. Any time you want to chat I'm here. X
  • thank you for your kind words. Do you know what sort of treatment your friends brother had? was his cancer a secondary from the bowel? Grasping at any information that we can get to make sure my son gets chance to have treatment that will help him..
  • Hi huni. No I don't know the details (I haven't got round to asking the details) but I will ask for you. He was treated at clatterbridge... and I know the liver was secondary. X
