newly diagnosed

Hi i have just been diagnosed with prostate cancer, although low grade and the doctor says not to panic how do you not, and how do you cope, I want to stop thinking about it but can't

  • Hi Farfar,

I also was diagnosed over six years ago with prostate cancer. My psa was 70 with a gleeson of 3+3=6.

After two years on hormone therapy and 37 radiotherapy sessions, I have made a very good recovery so It can be beaten. I hope my story will help. It is scary yes but that wears off after a time so try not to let it take over your life; try to keep some semblance of normality in it as helps enormously.

If you have any questions, please ask. Let us know how your getting on. Sending kind thoughts and best wishes your way, Brian.

  • Thanks Brian, I had 15 cores taken, 6 were positive, 5 3+3=6  1 3+4=7 all the rest were negative PSA 3.7, got to have a bone scan the doctor is looking at active serviellence, my brother in law who also has PC had 4 cores 3+4=7 and had bachytherapy and is having lots of problems, i will have to wait until after the bone scan,

    best wishes

    Paul
