clear cell kidney cancer

Hello, I was diagnosed in April with clear cell Adenocarcinoma in the right kidney.  I have been on medication for psoriasis for over 30 years and now find that my kidney function is poor.

I have been been offered a partial nephrectomy but have decided on Cryoabalation. Has anyone else tried this?  My tumour in right kidney is 3cms.

  • Sorry to hear about you Kidney cancer.

what drawed me to your post was because of my mum. She has been diagnosed with Kidney cancer around April as well, unfortunately she is still waiting on her biopsy. We currently know that the tumour is on her lower pole kidney and it is 4:8cm. My mum isn't well enough for surgery to remove the kidney.

may I ask how long you waited?. However I have been doing some investigating and sometimes medication is just as good, however I'm no doctor. I did read statistics. I hope your doing ok?

  • Hi,

I'm so sorry about your mum I know it's very difficult for family.

I had  my biopsy within two weeks as I was coughing up blood which in fact had nothing to do with the kidney cancer it was just a burst blood vessel in my throat. However my GP ordered a Bronchoscopy and a MRI scan. Although lungs were clear that is when they found the lesion on my kidney. Biopsy was done one week later.

Your poor mum should have this done by now phone up your GP and ask why this procedure has not been carried out yet.

I am feeling great thank you I have no symptoms at all.

  • I am pleased to hear you are doing well. It keeps me some what hopeful,  that my mum will get this great result. I have a very bad feeling and thanks for your postive comments. Can you remember the size of your tumour?

  • Hello,

My tumour is 3cms but is in the centre of the kidney so makes it a bit more difficult to deal with.

As as I said my kidney function isn't good. I am going for another  MRI scan and then if all is suitable the team in Glasgow will perform the Cryoabaltion procedure.
