Hello

Hi my name is Wayne and I am new to this forum. I have stage IV Kidney Caancer and I am interested in speaking to others in the same situation.

  • Hi Dixon, welcome to the forum, but sorry to hear you have stage 4 kidney cancer. I don't have kidney cancer, but I have bladder cancer along with other cancers. At one time, my urologist thought I had kidney cancer and said he would have to take out my right kidney. However, after a Pet scan, he discovered that I had a tumor in my ureter tube that had travelled there from my bladder, but hadn't made it to my kidney. He was in panic city because I had been telling him that I had a pain in my side, but he wasn't paying any attention to it. It was actually my lung surgeon who discovered it first when she had me scanned for lung cancer. It showed up on that scan.

I wanted to respond to your post to let you know that we do read the posts, but often don't reply if they don't relate to the cancers we are dealing with. Also, by me responding to your post, it will bump it up to the first page again where hopefully, someone who can relate will respond. Perhaps if you post again and tell us more about yourself, other forum members will respond as well. You say you have stage 4 but you don't say how you're feeling, both physically and emotionally, or what the plan is for your treatment.

I hope you have family/friends around you to support you through this time. It is a lot to cope with and support from others can be a big help. I look forward to hearing more about you.

    Take care.

    Lorraine

  • Hi Lorraine,

Thanks for the reply it means a lot. I plan on adding more details about myself in the coming days so hopefully this will give you and others some more detail.

I wish you well for the future.

    All the best Wayne.

  • Hi Wayne, hope you are doing O.K. I had my left kidney removed last October, stage 3 (grade 4 intermediate). I'm in complete remission at present, just coming up to my first year check, fingers crossed. Anyway, I've had a great year, it's amazing how something so drastic can turn into something so positive. I have always worked in a stressful job in private legal practise but this last year I decided I needed to work but gave up the stress for a little part time job on an annual contract. The money is much less but I wish I had done it years ago, money doesn't count for anything if your health is poor. I take time off as much as possible to go on holidays with my husband, we enjoy life together so much more. I hope you will soon be able to enjoy life again. For now, stay well and keep smiling It'll get you through.

    Jeanne
