  • Hi Nuray,

I'm glad to hear the removal of your prostate cancer was successfuI but can understand why you may be worried if your PSA has risen slightly since the operation. One of our members [@woodworm]‍ has been in a similar situation and may be able to help.

Now that I've tagged him in this post he should hopefully be along soon to say hello and share his advice and experience with you.

    Kind Regards,

  • Hi Ray,

Please do not be concerned or worried about  your psa when it is only 0.1. That is still very low. I didnt have the option of having my prostate removed. I had two years of hormone therapy and 37 radiotherapy sessions. My psa went down fron 70 when I was first diagnosed to 0.01 after finishing treatment. It has been rising slowly since all treatment finished over four years ago. It actually went down last time from 1.4 six months ago to 0.91 just a few days ago. I am very happy about that. My oncologist said he expects it will eventually reach around 3.5  so I am not worried one little bit.

Its my understanding that even when the prostate has been removed, the body still produces a small amount of psa. There have been several instances over the four years Ive been on this site where this has happened so please dont get stressed over this. Also sometimes the laboratory give different results as they are working to such fine limits these days, so another reason why it may appear to be higher as my own results have shown.

If when you get your next results, If it is higher they could always put you on hormone therapy but I wouldnt expect this to happen until your psa get quite a lot higher. There are several other options but I dont think you need worry about this. I only mention this to try and re-assure you.

Wishing you all the best and please let us know how you get on, Brian.
