Hello

I am new to the forum and wanted to take some time to tell you about my journey so far. I was diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer in January of this year. I found out by going in for my routine mammogram.  The biopsy results indicated that I was HER 2 Neu +.   I had a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery on February 22.  I had the DIEP flap procedure done and it was successful. Although the reconstruction phase is not complete, my surgeon feels that I will be ready to finish in November. I started chemo in at the end of March and just finished my fourth treatment. I have to do chemo for 1 year and afterwards, I will be on hormone inhibitors for 5 years.  I have had minimal nausea and for the most part have tolerated my treatments well.  I lost my hair on the 14th day after my first treatment.  I have had my share of melt downs, but I stay busy and take it one day at a time.  My cancer has helped me to rekindle my spirit. I found out that I am much more courageous than I thought I was and despite all the obstacles, I am blessed.

I look forward to being a part of this forum!

God Bless!
