Hello everyone

I am very scared right now, my husband has prostrate cancer which has spread to his liver he is very ill. We have carers coming in when I am at work but he has told the district nurse that he doesnt want carers at all, especially when I am at home. This weekend has been really really bad, he cant get to the loo now without my help he doesnt want to eat and is only able to shuffle if he gets up at all- I am scared to put him to bed as he has to climb the stairs ( he doesnt want a bed downstairs). I have to work next week, we have no money and it means I have to leave my thirteen year old with him ( he is off school on holiday) It isnt fair on him and there is never anyone to talk to at weekends I would like to dial 111 and leave a message for the nurse but he will go mad

  • Hi CB63

I nursed my husband with Cancer, the district nurses left me a number I could contact them! They should have a 24 hour line.hope this is helpful.

Sometimes you have to stand your ground my husband did not want carers in,but I told him I could not manage on my own,he accepted if he wanted to stay at home that was the package available .

you will be worn out if you do not accept help ,physically and financially, you should be able to claim some money, get in touch with Mac Millian Nurses. I would just ask for a bed, plus all the things you need,

if you don,t take care of yourself, you will not be in any condition to look after your husband,
