Prostate cancer

Hello,

my name is Brian, i'm 71yrs old male, i've just recovered from prostate cancer, i've had hormone treatment and

Radio Therapy, my PSA is 0.07 but my testosterone level is less than 1 my hormone treatment finished in

November last year, my Radio Therapy in December, at present i have erectile disfunction as a side effect of

the treatment, the question is how long will it take for my testosterone to clime to a reasonable level?

  • Hi Brian,

I also have had prostate cancer.

I finished my hormone therapy nearly five years ago which I had been on for two years along with 37 radiotherpy sessions. My psa was 0.01 a few weeks after r/t ended  but was 1.4 last November. I still suffer from E.D.  but I also was diagnosed with diabetes at aboutthe same time and that also contributes to E.D. I have just had to accept it as a price worth paying for the result I've had.

I was told by my consultant, the side effects should have dissapeared within a year of so as the hormone is graduly flushed out of the system but even now I still occasionaly suffer from hot flushes so I really cant answer your question.

Wishing you all the best and please let us know how your getting on, Brian.
