Mums diagnosis

Hi, when my mum went into hospital 2 weeks ago with suspected gallstones I never imagined I'd be posting to something like this. Turns out she doesn't have gallstones but rather that dreaded C word!

We got told a week ago now that my mother has cancer in her gallbladder, liver and groin area and there is very little they can do so she may only have months to live. Last Friday I thought we were losing her as she was so ill and wouldn't eat or drink; however since then she has become stronger and stronger and her strength has given us positivity. Yes she has cancer and yes it is nasty but everyone's bodies deal with things in different ways and who is to say how long she will be with us.

We are just concentrating on giving her the right nutrition and building her strength so that we can take each day as it comes and make the most of our precious time with her.

So that's my story; just wanted to say hello as I think it may help talking to others about their experiences.

  • Hi

I think you all seem to have a strong mindset and it's important to take a day at a time like you say.

I lost my mum just over two months ago with advanced ovarian cancer and that's the way we dealt with it .

There's alot of help available ...my dad now wishes he had taken up the offer of carers as he insisted on doing it all and to be honest mum would have had better quality care .He also became the carer and didn't get time to be the husband in the end.

I wish you and your family all the very best ..
