Hi there Summerjane, welcome to the forum, but sorry for why you're here. I don't have melanoma, but I have other cancers. I think how you're feeling is not unlike most of us felt at first diagnosis. Because cancer used to be a death sentence from the onset, a lot of people are still in that mindset. That is not the case now as many people are actually cured of cancer, and others go on to live with cancer for many years. I don't know what your particular situation is and I'm not a medical person anyway, but I think you should discuss your fears with your treatment team. They are the best ones to guide you through this journey that you are now on. If you want to know all the facts about your diagnosis, tell them to give it to you straight up. I'm one that has to know it all, everything they know, I want to know, but not everyone feels that way. If I don't know it all, my imagination runs wild and that is not a good feeling.
In any case, people on this forum are very caring and supportive so come on here and get support from those of us who are on this journey together. Take care and let us know how things go for you.
Take care.
