Positivity

I just wanted to get on here and speak some word of encouragement! Remind yourselves that you are beautiful everyday, inside and out. Although for some the journey will be long, or your journey may just be starting, just know that you do have the strength to push forward, or start your journey! Just keep positive thoughts of beating whatever ales you. You can do it!! You need to focus all your fear towards beating whatever ales you, you can do it!!!!

  • Hi BrandyT

Its very nice of you to come on the forum spreading words of positivity, in a good hearted, well meaning way, however it is often the wrong thing to say to people who are suffering from cancer. You'd understand if you were this side of the fence. The positivity as you call it has to come from within and believe me at times it can be very difficult to summon it up. But being told to be positive doesn't help at all, its a rather cheap throw away remark, if only it were so easy. If you really want to help someone with cancer, just a kind word will do, a smile, a joke, a chat, some practical help, like a lift to the hospital, or prepare a meal when they feel too sick to do so themselves. This would go a long way to making them feel positive from within. Kim

  • Hi BrandyT

Hope your attitude is helping with your cancer.

However for those who have an incurable cancer (as in my late husband's case) his own way of thinking would have made little difference to his death from Mesothelioma which was a terminal prognosis from day one of diagnosis.  The fact that he struggled for three years with this illness was heartbreaking to watch and being positive was not the issue - research into a cure would be the best way forward so others would be spared the trauma. • Hi Brandy   -   what is your experience with this type, or other incurable, diseases?   Please let us know so that we understand your reasons for posting.  Appreciate a reply mate

  • This is just what I needed to hear, I'm going for my third cycle of chemo on Monday and feel like I need to be dragged in there kicking and screaming!! There is a part of me that wants to stop the treatment as the the chemo is adjuvant therapy, and I worry that it's doing more harm than good. however I have 4 young children and need to beat this! I will focus my fears on getting through the treatment and getting well again! Thanks for the positive words
