Bladder cancer

Hi there I had a tumour in December 2015 in my bladder non invasive and small had it removed went back for my 3 month check cyscospy and had a red area in my bladder I am waiting to hhear back as the doctor said he wanted a biopsy done any one eelse going through the same.

  • hi there, welcome to the forum, but sorry for why you're here. I too have bladder cancer, but I am 3 yrs. up on you. I've been there and back, several times as a matter of fact. The good thing though is that I still have my bladder after having several cystoscopies, surgeries, BCG treatments. Having said all of that, my last cystoscopy was clear, the first time since my initial diagnosis. I have other cancers however, which I won't go into here, that are unrelated to the bladder cancer. I hope yours turns out to be easy to control, or even cure. Come back here when you get your results and let us know how it turns out for you. Good luck with the outcome of your biopsy.

    Take care

  • Thank you lorraine for your kind message and by the sounds of things you have been through a lot. If you don't mind me asking lorraine how old was you when you first found out you had bladder cancer x

  • Hi Claire, I was first diagnosed with bladder cancer when I was in my early 70's. Four years before that, I was diagnosed with other cancers that are not in any way related to the bladder cancer. I had never heard tell of bladder cancer until I was diagnosed with it, even though I had been involved in the cancer clinic for the 4 years prior to that. There is more info out there now on bladder cancer thank goodness, because it was quite a shock to me. I had no idea what the signs were, or what to look for, and also discovered at that point that no one in my circle of friends and family had ever heard tell of it either. Thank goodness that has changed because if people know the signs of possible bladder cancer, they will get it treated much sooner which gives a better chance for a cure. Be sure to come back on here and let me know how you get along with your follow-up.

    Take care.

  • Thank you lorraine for your reply back I am really struggling at the moement with my feelings and feel very low & tearfull I am 42 years old and my world was turned upside down november 2015 when told I had a tumour in my bladder had the surgery and hoped to get the all clear on Monday but they have now noticed a red patch in the prosterior wall of my bladder. Had my appointment through today for 19th April for them to take a biopsy.xxx

  • Hi Claire, I can understand how upset and concerned you are. Cancer in all of its' forms is a scary thing to be dealing with, but fortunately, cancer today, is not the death sentence it once was. These days, many people are cured, or at least, their disease is kept under control and they live a long and productive life. That red patch on your bladder may just be irritation from your urologist removing the tumor that was there. I know this is easier said than done, but try to focus on the plus side here and know that the tumor was removed. Doing a biopsy is standard procedure I believe, because most everyone I know with bladder cancer, always had a biopsy done once it was discovered. Your urologist is making sure he/she has a firm understanding of what exactly is going on in your bladder and that is a good thing.I know the 19th seems like a long time to wait, but it will be here before you know it and then you will have some answers. Stay in touch and if you want to "talk" more about it, let me know. I hope you have family/friends around you for support. Certainly people on this forum are very caring and supportive, but I know it isn't the same as having someone close by.

    Take care.
