Scared too!

Hi, I was diagnosed yesterday

  • Hi Dee, welcome to the forum, but sorry for why you're here. Right now, you are in shock at the diagnosis that you have cancer. All of us here were at the same place when we were first diagnosed so we can relate to how you feel. It will take a while to get your head around this, so be kind to yourself as you come to terms with it. You don't say what your cancer is, or what, if anything is planned for your treatment. One time, a diagnosis of cancer almost always meant a death sentence, but not so these days. Many people have been treated and gone on to live very satisfactory lives and many others live well with cancer. You will find that people on this forum are at varying stages of their disease so there is a very wide level of experience here that can provide support for almost any type of cancer. Also. people on here are very caring to others and the nurses too, are great to provide information as well. You will be glad you joined the forum where you will make many friends.

Perhaps you can write back and tell us a little more about yourself and just writing down your feelings and fears about your diseasse goes a long way in reducing your fears.

Take care of yourself as you come to terms with this diagnosis.

    Sending hugs.

  • Hi,

It's absolutely awful isn't it, I was diagnosed Thursday with breast cancer, I don't think it has really sunk in, I just keep crying when I hear from family and friends, it is so hard to tell people..... What type do you have ? We have to be strong with positive thoughts.

  • Hi Lorraine,  thank you for your reply unfortunately I don't know much about my diagnosis. Jan 2015 by pur accident during a heart scan a small "dot" was noticed on my lung I was sent to the chest clinic where I was told nothing need to be done it was so small and to come back in 12 months.

I did go back in Feb for a ct wk or so later got a call out of the blue to go back a larger lump was also in my lung. For the last two weeks has been a whirlwind of test the hospital had a "MDT meeting" yesterday , I had been asking for results of various test so the nurse at the chest clinic rang and gave me a brief diagnosis of lung cancer t1 and I was to have surgery in the next few weeks to remove it and some lymph nodes.

It sounds silly but I feel more scared for my large family that relie on me in so many ways due to their health issues , I am not very good with the chat I give up f/b because I struggle navigating on line lol

  • Hi I know exactly what you mean about speaking to friends n family, I have lung cancer I keep expecting the world to stop for a moment while I catch my breath and ask "are you sure?" I feel ok. Have you been told about what the Drs can do for you?"

  • Hello,

I am booked in for an MRI on Tuesday, if that tells the same story as the other tests, I will be having  chemo then op and radiotherapy. I feel like I am writing about someone else, it's mad. Terrified of what lays ahead.

    Xx

  • Hi Sugar65

just had to ask how your Mir went. Have you been given staging result yet? Have you been told about treatment available to you?

    Take care of you!!
