Diagnosed with breast cancer

Hi, I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 weeks ago from biopsy results. I am currently waiting for my first appointment with the consultant which is Monday 4th.. I have to admit I do feel a little let down as I had scan 8 months ago but was told it was fine just hormone changes in my body. I noticed the lump more and it started to hurt so my partner insisted I go back to the doctors, which I did. They sent me off to the breast clinic where I had another scan and an ultra sound both showed no signs, luckily the doctor wanted to do a biopsy as the lump is right in the nipple. well the results confirm my worst thoughts... I have been in complete turmoil since.. I really can't understand why it is taking 2 weeks before I see a consultant to discuss treatment procedures, is the normal ?

Mine was told was hormanal and after I pushed investigation it was admitted I was 18 months late of a diagnosis with spread to lymph nodes it makes me angry. - was 23 I had chemo, double mastectomy all lymph nodes out and now tamoxifen. If u ever need a chat xx   and yes the wait can be normal depends on your situation xx

  • Hi, thank you... At the moment I just don't know which way to turn. I guess Monday is only a few days away now and things should start moving on then, all I keep thinking is due to the delay could it have spread.

hope you are on the mend now xx..

  • This is about the normal time,it may seem ages away but it will pass. You will have some sleepless nights and anxious moments but this is normal as well. My advice is to keep busy, keep working if that is what you do and keep active. I did a lot of walking ,it gave me time to think on my own but also I made sure I was fit to go through surgery. I am still walking, it really helps. Also be open about your diagnosis but you don't have to go into details. I am a practice nurse ,  never took a day off work, but I was diagnosed with breast cancer after a mammogram, and it has taken me a while to get my head around things, but you do. Keep going and keep in touch.
