possibility of sarcoma? small ideterminate lesion - MDT rep.

my husband has noticed a tiny lump on his thumb 6 months ago, hes been to see his gp who prescribed an antibiotic first. it didnt work, lump got slightly bigger and changed colour (purple'ish) it doesnt look good and is now just under 1cm in size. it does not hurt. after a visit in a hospital, orthopedic has reffered him for several scans starting from ultrasound, thorugh x ray, bloods, mmri and mri with contrast. All came back as ''abnormal'' but still indeterminate? i have been informed of MDT meeting, that took place two weeks ago, they have said that the lesion is too small for ultrasound guided biopsy, that the cystic lesion is still undefined, i keep calling doctor's secretary..but she doesnt seem to WANT to tell me what is going on. we have read the MDT report, I guess we werent allowed to, but at least we know what doctors are thinking. my husband is due to see a specialist in two weeks time , I think he is planning excision and biopsy. Covering letter of the reports said Cancer, and Sarcoma..but yet no diagnosis.. please someone tell me what is happening :( im struggling taking care of my two little children, my husnad is only 25, we havent got a clue what to think. on one side there isnt a diagnosis - on the other everything means it is sarcoma :( how long does it take for results to come back?? im terrified.

  • Hello nidyrydy,

I'm so sorry to hear that you and your husband are dealing with this. It sounds like it's a difficult situation for you both.

I wonder if it might help you to have a chat with one of our team of nurses, They may be able to offer some information and advice before your husbands appointment.

They will be back after the Easter bank holiday weekend and you can call them free from a UK landline on 0808 800 4040 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm).

Do come back and let us know how things go.

    Sending our best wishes,

    Jenn
