Hi Tony,
Welcome to the forum!
You're at just about the most frustrating stage of the cancer journey - waiting for things to start.
I was lucky when I was diagnosed because, although I was at Stage 4, I didn't really have many symptoms so I stayed at work for as long as I could. When not working, my dog was walked for miles and miles - anything to avoid being sat indoors watching the box.
Good luck
Dave
Hi Tony,
Welcome to the forum! I can relate to your daytime TV trauma.
I tend to fill my days catching up with friends, emails, dog walking, but then admit to succumbing to the afternoon quiz fest on TV (Countdown, Tipping Point, The Chase etc) well, it's important to put your feet up amd rest! ;)
If you need to know / ask anything about your forthcoming chemo/radiotherapy then ask away.
Hope the forum becomes a welcome distraction for you.

Hi Jo,
Thanks for getting back to me, yes doing all the tv stuff but so used to working it is difficult not to be out there doing my job, have no dog so no walking but my condition does not allow to much movement and getting about, need a soft chair and to be nearly laid down to be comfy.
Start chemo next week I think as well as radiotherapy, they say every day for 5 weeks is my plan and have a over an hour travel to the hospital for the radiotherapy as my chemo will be tablet form taking morning and night.
How you doing ?
Tony.
Hi Dave,
I started to have my problem in November and saw the doc mid December and now waiting for the treatment to start, they have said they have not been as fast acting as they should have but I am very close now, should get my chemo tablets on Friday and hoping to get a start date for the radiotherapy when I pick them up.
Had to stop work as in to much pain to continue with work even though on 20 pain killers a day it still is quite uncomfortable and moving about does make it worse so comfy sofa is all I am able to offer myself.
Thanks for the reply.
Tony.
Hi Tony,
Sorry to hear your condition doesn't allow you much movement. Would 'talking books' hit the mark? I know my step dad downloads well known novels onto his tablet amd he relaxes listening to them. He also gets the grey matter going with Sudoku!
Are you able to drive yourself to your radiotherapy sessions or are you being supported by family and friends? (Sorry, always been nosy!)
Do you know the name of your chemo drug? Is it Capecitabine? I know DaveK has his own particular pet name for this medication ;)
I'm doing ok thank you for asking. Receiving palliative care, but my pain relief medication is well managed amd I'm living a pretty much 'normal' life. The drowsiness I'm experiencing is well worth the trade off for the 'no pain deal'
Do keep popping up on your thread to let us know how things are going and if we can support you.
Take care, Jo x
Hi Jo,
Thanks for the reply, must say I dont read much only on holiday in the sun but I do watch films as into sci-fi ones that just take your mind to another dimension. So netflix has been hammered a lot, my family has been up to stay a lot so that keeps me days filled with chat etc,
We have my parents living with us so that keeps us on our toes as they are 88 and 84 and are starting to show signs of dementia so we have to keep a eye on them.
I will probably drive myself but that depends on how I feel during it, I sign consent forms this Friday so dont know what is it I have to do quite yet, I do know I do 5 days a week for 5 weeks.
Glad you are comfortable now, hope to feel that way soon.
Will be posting on Friday but have to have more blood done tomorrow.
Catch up soon.
Regards Tony
