mam

Hello my name is Julie and im new to this forum....

I have just been to the hospital with my mam and sister and it has been confirmed that the recent stay in hospital for my mam with a collapsed lung is caused by cancer an Adenocarcinoma we have to wait till Thursday to find out the plan of action after the MDT meeting. She has gone home to break the news to my poor dad who has Parkinsons disease... she is 71 and he is 73. We lost my uncle 3 years ago age 56 with oesophageal cancer from diagnosis to death was 10 months. My mam has fought breast cancer, my sister also had breast cancer and my father had non hodgkins lymphoma. I am the luckiest person alive so far to have swerved the bullet that is cancer in my family. Im waiting for my husband to come home to tell him the news I feel detached and so sad.

    Hello Julie

I know it's so hard to hear, and just come home after thinking about it. Stay strong you can always chat to people on hear if you want to talk/ scream/ cry/ laugh even its up to you, but don't keep it all in that's what I have to keep telling myself, my cancer has come back and I feel so angry this time but I cry a lot this time too( not in front of any one) but it helps so what ever helps for you! Tell your mum you will be there for her as much as she wants and needs but have even 10 minutes to yourself everyday to do what you need to release the pain and heartache, keep strong thinking of you. My dad died of lung cancer, my sister died of Hodgkins, and my other sister is in remission from breast cancer so  we all can surprise ourselves with what we can deal with so stay strong.
