Hi my name is Vanita and i got stage 1 Breast Cancer in April 2011...

I had to have a lumpectomy to remove the lump I was then told it was cancer.

I had my lump 7 months and didnt do anything about it.The doc said had it been aggressive it would of possibly killed me.

I also had the surrounding area removed on a second op and they found pre cancerous cells so they said it was best to remove the whole breast..I was devastated...

Within the first week i had paid for my funeral picked my coffin even bought my plot.

I was convinced my time was up at 48 years old.

It hadnt gone into my lymph nodes which was a blessing but i just didnt know what to do.I had panic attacks and was just out of a 32 year marriage and alone for the first time since i left home at 20.

I had my family and a few close friends but i still felt alone, scared,and vulnerable.

I had my breast removed with an expander put in which had to be expanded for a few weeks then when that was done i had an inplant put in.

I then decided to have my ovaries removed so that i decreased my oestrogen levels as i had already had a hysterectomy 15 years ago and my lump was hormonal based.

I had reconstruction on my other breast to try and get them to look both the same but it just didnt work so i then decided to have the other breast off as well as a precaution.

Iv had full reconstruction now and it has took 5 years and iv just been given my 5 year all clear.

So all you lovely people out their who have been threw cancer their can be light at the end of the tunnel.

I have  beaten this horrible disease and am now happily married to a wonderful man who i met when i had only had cancer 8 weeks and he has been my strength.
