Coping with 2 cancers

Hi. It's my husband who's the cancer sufferer. In September 2015 he was diagnosed with Myeloma and is on his 5th cycle of CTD.  Yesterday we got the devastating news that he's now got lung cancer.  Hoping to chat to other carers or hear from anyone else who's experienced this.

  • Hello Millykate,

A big welcome to Cancer Chat. Your poor husband - having to deal with two cancers - that must be incredibly difficult for both of you. I hope you will get chatting soon with other carers who can understand exactly what you are going through at the moment.

Just a few days ago, I welcomed a lady to this forum whose husband has multiple myeloma. Perhaps you would like to drop her a line? You can find her thread here.

I hope others who find themselves in the same situation as you will be along soon to share their experience with you.

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Hello Millykate I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Prostate Cancer in January 2012 and was invited on to the "Stampede" clinical trial at Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff. Treatment was randomised and I ended up on Abiraterone tablets along with Zoladex injections and eventually a course of radiotherapy. The cancer appears to be under control at present but in June of last year (2015) I was diagnosed with rectal cancer and during August I underwent major surgery and a course of Chemotherapy. I returned to work in March 2016 albeit now part time and although I get tired I am dealing with things very well. I am extremely positive and I just getting on with my life. Yes, in the early days it was very difficult to deal with - why me and all that - but in my case before I could deal with it I had to accept the situation and move on. I don't worry about it and I have no problem talking about. What does the future hold - who knows? All I know is that I refuse to let it get me down and I know that with the check ups I have I am in very good hands. Regard John
