Hi. I've got cancer.

Hi. I was given the news today that I have invasive, aggressive bladder cancer, with tumours in my pelvic lymph nodes and left kidney. I am 59 with a loving husband, grown up 'children' a big house in leafy Cheshire and a staffy bull terrier from a rescue centre. This can't be happening to me

  • Oh, Shabby, I can understand how devastated you must be, it is such a terrible shock to be given the diagnosis of cancer. My own cancer is in my bladder, bowel, pelvic area and peritoneum and I know how scary it can be.

I hope you are going to see your oncologist soon, so that treatment can start to give you the best help.  There is so much help out there that you really must be positive and believe in the best outcome.

Please come and talk to us, let us know how things are going.  You will find such wonderful people on here who will support you along the way.

    With best wishes.

  • Ohh bless you.....I know how devastating that news is when you first hear it. I hope your treatment plan comes into play very soon. With a loving supportive family it is made just that little bit easier. Stay positive...always be positive.....don't give IT houseroom XX

  • Hi Shabby,

Welcome to the forum. I'm Dave, also in Cheshire, though with a Labrador rather than a Staffie.
I guess we all go through a period of denial when we can't believe its hapening to us.

    Best wishes
    Dave

  • This shouldn't be happening to anyone! 'Fight Bladder Cancer' has a facebook forum, choc a bloc with people in the same boat as you unfortunately, so you may find talking on there will offer some support. I was lucky as my bladder cancer was non invasive and caught early but I do know some of the feelings you have. I hope you get the support you need and have a good outcome from your treatment plan.x
