Hi I'm not sure if I'm right to be joining this, its not me going through cancer its my mum. Diagnosed last June and started treatment beginning of August. Our family only consists of me, my mum, my brother, my daughter and son. So things have been a bit pants.

  • Hi michmc,

Welcome to the forum, though sorry it's your mum's illness that has brought you here.

The forum is for anyone affected by Cancer, whether it's as the patient or a family member or friend. It offers a safe environment to offload, find out information amd get support from others who understand what you're going through.

If you feel able to tell us a little more about your mum's particular diagnosis, we can try and help, support you and your family. The weekends tend to be a bit quieter on the forum, but hopefully, others will be along soon to welcome you.

The nurses on the site are also just a phone call away if you have any questions that you'd like answering, although they only pick up calls Monday to Friday.

Don't feel alone, . Take care, Jo x

  • Hello,

I am also new to this site today and it too is my mum who has cancer not me.  She has terminal cancer of the lungs, liver and bowel.  She was diagnosed in June 2015 and given a year.  She has rejected treatments, because the she scared.  I saw her today and she is quite yellowish and still losing weight.  She has morphine for her cough.  She seems to be giving up a bit now. She can easily fall over so she has stopped taking personal care of herself.  She is quite snappy if anyone tries to encourage her to do anything, which is quite hard for my dad. Is it alright to say she always was strong willed?

    Any support or advice welcome.
