Hi, I'm concerned about my daughter who is 21 years of age, she has been passing blood every time she goes to the toilet this has been an ongoing thing since October last year, although she only brought it to our attention in December as she thought it was due to hemorrhoids, when she was slightly constipated, and didn't think anything of it.For the past six weeks however she has only been passing blood and mucus with the occasional stool. At the beginning of December we noticed how pale she was and had been taking many headaches after seeing the GP and her GP having a quick look she was given lactulose and informed it was probably a fissure as there were no signs of hemorrhoids. There was no change however and during the Christmas and New Year period I noticed how thin she appeared and family had remarked on how she was looking that she was very pale and was she feeling alright, she weighed herself and has lost almost a stone since October. A further two GP appointments and a blood test with the nurse she has now been told that she will be referred for further investigation. Her blood work has come back fine apart from being anemic, she was prescribed iron medication and has been taking it for eight days now, but is still exhausted and suffering from headaches. Are these all signs of bowel cancer as both GP's have said due to her age it is nothing sinister, although she really looks awful.
