Recently diagnosed

Hello, I have just been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer, I already have had a mastectomy, but 2 nodes out of 3 have come back with cancer in them. So my dilemma is do I opt for armpit surgery, or go straight to oncologist. Is there anyone out there who has had to make this difficult decision.

Hopefully Linda

  • Hi linda.  I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis and know how muddled you must be feeling right now. I am surprised that you have been left to make this decision alone - your consultant would normally advise you of the next step.  They are the professionals after all.

I would suggest that you contact your consultant again and ask what he/she is proposing a do as your nodes are involved and when you can expect an appointment through.

Survival rates for BC are really high nowadays Linda, so please try to stay positive about your treatment. You will get through it.  There are several others going through a similar situation here, and I hope they come along to support you soon.

    All the best x
