Look what Chemo has done to my nails

Just thought some of you might like to see the way my nails have coped with Chemo.  I had six rounds of EC90 which started on 3 August 2015 following a lumpectomy and SNB.  I have always loved having my nails done and like to paint them myself and then as a treat have them done professionally before holidays.  Following my Breast Cancer diagnosis I decided having read plenty of blogs about damage to nails to have Gel Polish done every three weeks and each morning and night oiled and applied good hand cream.  Prior to Christmas there was no damage visible to my nails but when I had the Gel reapplied yesterday the ridges had appeared which represent each one of my treatments! My beauty therapist has in 20 years never seen the "Chemo Journey" mapped out in this way and although my nails are still very strong the lines will take a little time to grown out!!  Although I have uploaded a photo I don't seem to be able to attach to this post!!

  • Hi Alibongo

    Welcome to Cancer Chat.

The cancer journey mapped out on your nails sounds very interesting and I would love to see the photo!

To upload the picture you need to click Edit post in the bottom left hand side of your post.

Go to the square icon next to the smiley face under the words 'what would you like to say?'

If you hover over the icon it says 'add media'.

Click on the icon and you can browse to find your photo and then upload it.

    I hope this helps!

    Best wishes

    Jane
