Breast Cancer - Introductions

Hi All,

I'm Charlie, I'm 31 and here's a summary of my journey:

Here’s a little summary of my cancer journey so far:

26th October 2015 – GP appointment because I found a lump

4th November 2015 – Breast cancer clinic for biopsies

11th November – Diagnosed with breast cancer

24th November – Referred for IVF (had to really push for the referral)

2nd December – Surgery is recommended

4th December – IVF appointment and exam

9th December – IVF funding approved

11th December – Single, left breast mastectomy

22nd December – Pathology Report (the cancer hasn’t spread, chemo and radiotherapy recommended)

Next up is likely to be IVF treatment and egg harvesting in January, chemo starts in February, I'd expect radiotherapy to start around June/July time and then (6 months after radiotherapy) I would like the other breast removed rather than a recontruction (I'll have to fight for that too it seems, they will not remove my healthy breast without sending me for a pychological assessment because obviously I'm mad to think I can still have self worth as a flat chested woman).

So that's me.  I would love for you to share your story as well.

xx

  • Hello Charlie31,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. A lot has happened to you in the last few months; your summary shows it well. I noticed you hadn't yet received a response and I know we have many forum members here in a similar situation to you who I am sure would love to get in touch with you.

Best of luck with the IVF treatment and egg harvesting in January. Do let us know how things go for you!

    Best wishes,
