Its my father that has been diagnoised with cancer, he's 77, I'm mid 40s, have a 13yr old daughter, we both live with my parents, (health reasons).
My mum has illness, had a mini stroke, if anything it would have been her that I expected we would have to go through this not mmy dad, he's the brick of the family, the glue that keeps us together, he's taken over the role of father to my daeughter, as her own dad did a runner.
Last year our world was turned upside down, what started off with an emergency appointment with the GP due to constipation on the Monday, turned into life saving operation on the Thursday - with what was a suspected ruptured bowel, was cancer of the bowel, resulting in total removeal of the large bowel. 6 months of chemo, blood clots - he was a survivor.
12 months later - he had his yr scan - followed by oncology review, blood transfusion, then they found his ct scan, the cancer has returned - in his small bowel, and lung.
We have been told its pallative care, got biospy next week, camera week after then chemo in Jan,
The crux - at the moment he doesn't want mum or my daughter to know, he looks well in himself, - its just so hard, dont really know what is happening - until the next 2 procedures - but any advice, support I would be grateful for
