Lung Cancer

Hi.  My name is Dorothy and I am 61 years old.  Three weeks ago I was diagnosed with limited stage non small cell lung cancer.  My specialist said it has not spread and is operable.  I am due to go to Wythenshawe Hospital tomorrow to see the Thoracic Surgeon with regard to surgery.  I have been told this will be done before Christmas.  I am trying to stay positive but have bad days.  It has always been my biggest fear getting cancer.

  • Hi

I had upper right lobe removed over 3 years ago and the C has not  returned. I went to Guys and they are wonderful. The only real problem I had was a few weeks later when I had bad side effects from morphine based pain relief. It gives you dreadful nausea and you cannot eat.  If you can avoid that, then you will be up and about in no time. I was wielding a three foot axe, splitting logs, two months after surgery. I was 68 at the time.

  • Hi Dorothy

I am the same as Sue - how are you?  What has been going on since November?  I also have had lung cancer - but the big bad cell boys and had half the lung removed .......and fitter than I was before!  Sending you positive and thoughtful wishes.  Sian
