  • Hi Melanie, welcome to the forum, but sorry for why you're here. You have come to the right place to get support as all of us on here either have cancer, or are caregivers to loved ones with cancer. Right now you are shell-shocked at this cancer diagnosis. We know how that is because we have all been there at first diagnosis. It takes awhile to come to terms with the fact that this has happened to you, so be patient with yourself. As a matter of fact, be as kind to yourself as you would be to a loved one who would have been given a cancer diagnosis. Take deep breaths and try to relax as you gradually come to terms with it, and you will reach a point where you accept what is and then learn how to navigate the system for your treatment.

You don't say much about where your cancer is, or what you've been told about a plan for treatment. One thing that is helpful is to write on here about your situation and your feelings around it. Writing about it can be a big help in getting it out there and then you gradually learn to come to terms with it. People on this forum are very caring and supportive, so you will find that helps, just to know that you're not alone with this terrible disease. I do hope you have loved ones around you to help you through this.

Come back on here to let us know how you are and share your fears with others in the same or similiar situation. For sure you will find support here.

Take care and sending you hugs.

    Lorraine
