Hi. My name is Jane and this is the first time I have posted on the page although I have had a lot of support from the helpline during my journey. I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carsonoma, grade 2, ER pos on 9th March this year. I am 47. I have a family history of breast cancer and have been having mammograms for about 10 years. I went to my one stop breast clinic with what I thought was a small lump in my right breast but was reassured that this was just breast tissue but was given a mammogram whilst I was there. An hour later I was told they had found a lump in my left breast and needed to do a biopsy. Again I wasn't worried as I had always had check ups and I just thought it was probably a cyst. The words "you have breast cancer" seem to be heard in slow motion and this is where my journey began. I had a lumpectomy on 1st April and started chemo in May. I am now two weeks into radiotherapy with just one week left to go and I have just started on tamoxifen. I am looking forward to sharing experiences with others on here because I think it helps so much to know you are not alone going through this. I have tried to be as positive as I can be over the last 8 months but I admit I am now a bit weary and looking forward to it all being over!
