bone cancer

First time on the site. Been diagnosed with bone cancer in May. Have had surgery on my knee and am having radiotherapy. Looking at alternative therapy and have come across lots of info on cannabis oil. Want to find other people's experience.

  • hi mark

glad to see your treatment for cancer is in progress. The idea of magic bullet alternative therapies is seducive but most exist to relieve desperate people like you and me of our money, while providing no cure. Cannabis oil is one of them its ok to cook with but no better than sunflower oil and much more expensive, again you could rub it on your skin but other oils do just the same job. Keep your captain sensible hat on and wonder why it is that so many alternative therapies exist, its because none of them work. Just like for cures for the common cold, there are none, but chemists sell hundreds of different preparations that do no good whatsoever. Kim

  • Hello mark2811,

A big welcome to our site! I hope you will find this forum informative and supportive.

At the moment there isn't enough evidence from clinical trials in patients to know whether cannabis or cannabinoids are an effective cancer treatment, but research is ongoing. You can read more on our blog: http://bit.ly/O8lDtX

You can also find out more about the safety of complementary and alternative therapies on our website here, as well as some information about the difference between the two. Despite research into various types of alternative therapy, there is no scientific or medical evidence to show that alternative therapies can help to treat or cure cancer. Some alternative therapies may be harmful and cause side effects or interfere with your conventional cancer treatment. They may cost a lot of money. If you are considering stopping conventional cancer treatment to try an alternative therapy it is very important that you discuss this with your treatment team first and discuss treatment possibilities with them

Good luck with the rest of your radiotherapy treatment,
