Stage 4 breast cancer - what to expect

Hi everyone

Im new here - so not quite sure how to post this.

1 was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer - to the lungs in january. I have had chemotheraphy and radiation - which has shrunk the tumours slightly but has not made much difference. I am currently taking tamoxifen - but recent scans shows that the disease has progressed in my lungs. I am 32 years old. What can I expect to happen if I decline further

chemo?

Thank you so much

  • Hi Sophie, welcome to the forum, but sorry for the reason you are here. I don't have breast cancer, I have other cancers, but I just wanted to welcome you here and hopefully, someone with breast cancer will come on and respond to your post. Also, by me responding, your post will be bumped to the beginning again where it will more easily be seen. You will find that people on here are very friendly and supportive as you take this journey that no one chooses to be on. I hope someone responds soon. In the meantime, keep reading the posts and come back on here to let us know how you are.

Take care and sending you hugs.

    Lorraine

  • Hello Sophie

I am sorry to hear that your breast cancer is metastatic. I can't help with your question because I don't know the answer but I wanted you to know that I am on here too. I am recovering from mammoplasty and a lumpectomy. The surgeon has prepared me for the knowledge that the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes based on what he saw. I will know for sure soon. I am 43 and will start chemo soon.

If you would like to chat I am here but understand if you are seeking contact with people at the same point on this horrible 'journey'.

    Thinking of you, Fiona.
