Breast cancer

I have just signed up to this forum having being first diagnosed with breast cancer in Sept 2010. Had mastectomy, chemo and radiotherapy, hair loss, loss of taste but have to say that I am in remission now. I had reconstructive surgery in Feb 2014 and most recently had nipple reconstruction nearly 3 weeks ago. I'm still in dressing until 20th Oct when I go to hospital to have stitches removed. I'm looking forward to seeing the end result. Has anyone else had this surgery?

  • Hi Sandie,

I had my treatment for breast cancerr last year and was expecting recon surgery round about now but instead am waiting for test results to see if its come back as there is something on my liver.

My sister had reconstruction though - over a decade ago and hers looks great now - so good you can barely tell them apart.  She did have to have her nipple re-tattooed several times and in the end went to an ordinary tattoo artist as the NHS ones use veggie dye or something and it faded too quickly. I am currently living with a temporary implant (which actually has hardened and distorted somewhat due to radiotherapy) so kind of think that anything really would be better!  Hope you're pleased with the results.  lou
