Introduce myself

So I would like to start off in the forum by sharing my news. I have a grandmother with whom I used to be very close. But then her health started deteriorating  significantly over a certain period of time. She starting experiencing severe chest pain, cough, she had severe loss of appetite and as a result of that she also began losing a lot of weight. One day she coughed out blood. Finally she was diagnosed with Lung Cancer.
That was a turning point of our lives. All those long conversations we used to have about our lives stopped, she became withdrawn from all social activities and she used to stay locked up in her room for hours together. We tried counselling sessions but in vain. Now I'm here to get in touch with people who have experienced the same thing and bounced back or even those whose close ones are experiencing these things.

  • Hello Hariyaksh,

Welcome to the forum although it's sad circumstances that have led you here.

I'm sure that some of our other members will be along to say hello and offer their words of support and advice soon. Everyone deals with hearing the news that they have cancer in different ways and it's not uncommon for people to become withdrawn. We have some information on our website about Coping with Lung Cancer that you might find helpful.

If you ever feel you want to talk to someone we also have a team of nurses that you can call to talk to. They are available Mon-Fri 9am-5pm on 0808 800 4040 (free to call from a UK landline).

Do keep in touch and let us know how you are all doing when you can.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
