Deeply sad

Hello, I'm new here. Today I found out my dad's lung cancer has spread so can't operate I'm struggling with the news but my dad is trying to be brave for me. Doctor said it can't be cured. My Mum had ovarian cancer 6 months ago and fully depends on my dad.. Very old school my Mum has never worked or paid a bill so don't want to tell her I'm struggling

Just wanted to talk to someone..

  • Hi Donellano

Take heart that your dad is old school also, he will have the strength to get through this, men of our generation were brought up to just get on with whatever adversity life throws at you. You must stay strong for your mum though giving her any help she needs and of course your dad when he needs it. Talking about your situation is good for you even if its just on a forum like here but better with friends and relatives. You will be surprised that people will offer help and support when they know your situation. Some will stay away but dont be angry with them for this, some are timid souls who just dont know what to say. There are tough times ahead but there is an opportunity to get to know your parents much better and you still have time to share some good times together. Kim

  • Thank you kim, really appreciate what you said :0)

  • Hello. I've only just joined this right now. I know your pain my mums just been diagnosed with bowel cancer that's spread to her liver, also inoperable. It's horrible isn't it and although I have a boyfriend and lots of friends I'm really struggling to talk to them about it which is why I joined this. I think the worst thing is feeling Powerless and that you can effect any sort of change.
