Want to say hello

First of all I would like to say hello and introduce myself . I am on here on the behalf of my auntie she has beat breast cancer 4 times and has had both breasts off about 4 weeks ago she went for all her usual checks to see if the cancer had spread  any where else on her body and it came back all clear (we were all happy) then about a week after  she stArted to forget things , slurred her words and was finding it difficult to write. The doctor told her it was just stress and did not refer her for tests. Anyway the other day I noticed Che was getting worse so I took her to a+e where we found out she actually has secondry cancer in her brain this was a blow for all of us and still does not feel real .

Sorry for the long post I understand if you have up half way through I'm new to all this xx

  • Hi

Firstly welcome to the forum though sorry for the reason that brings you here. No need for apologies regarding length of posting  as if we share a story then others can respond and offer support and/or a listening ear. Your auntie is very lucky to have you notice a change in her symptoms and whilst this has been a dreadful shock for you and the family maybe now they can look at further treatment for her. It may take a little while for such hard news to sink in but do come and chat on the forum anytime you need to offload/ask questions as many here will relate to your circumstances. Jules54

  • Hi Jules thank you for your reply!!! With this being my aunts 5th time we should be used to it by now. It was just more of a shock as she got the all clear four weeks ago when she went for her rutine check up so we thought she was ok but it was not till they gave her the brain scan after I made her go to hospital regarding her speech and memory that we found out she has secondry breast cancer on her brain. I just wanted to join here to try and get to understand secondry cancer more!! X

  • Not sure we ever get used to hearing that loved ones have cancer but know that mutual support somehow gets us through. I had a friend who fought breast cancer on and off for over 25 years and was just amazed at her character in getting through it each time. She had so many different chemotherapy/radiotherapy treatments plus surgery. She considered herself lucky to see her kids grow up and had three grandchildren before the cancer finally took her away from us all. She was an inspiration and supported us when my  husband was diagnosed.  Hopefully others will be along to chat and offer support and if you have questions you would like to ask do post on Ask the Nurses thread as and when you need to.

Have a peaceful weekend. Jules x

  • hi just been told have sarcoma of the womb anyone else have it and can you just help me to understand it etc pauline j

  • Hi paulineJ

Welcome to the forum though  sad for the reason that brings you here.  I do not have any personal knowledge of sarcoma of the womb but if you have questions then do post in the Ask the Nurses section or you can ring them Mon to Fri 9-5 on the freephone number given on this page (if you in the UK).  Also it may be worth placing a post with your type of cancer in the heading so that other readers may be able to 'pick up on it' and respond. All the very best. Jules54

  • Hi Pauline , I don't know anything about sarcoma but just wanted to say my thoughts are with you , take care xx
