Hi All -
I just joined this forum today, although my mother was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in July 2011. She was prescribed Letrozole (Femara) and has been doing quite well on it. Her secondary sites were in her breast bone and her left hip. However, she recently had blood work done and one tumour marker was raised. As a result, her oncologist ordered an emergency PET scan. The scan showed a "flare-up" of another tiny patch of cancer in her hip. However, my mother admitted to my husband and I that she had started to take the Letrozole "every other day" rather than every day, which is how it was prescribed. She is 81 years old, and is a bit forgetful. My sister lives near her and will now be monitoring her medications. The oncologist has now prescribed Arimason, despite the fact that we have made her aware that my mom has been missing doses of the letrozole. Just feeling a bit worried about this. My mom and family are in the States (where I come from), and I live here in the UK with my husband, who is British. Just looking for some support and/or information. Big hugs to all of you.
