New to this I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Mary. I was diagnosed with grade 2 invasive  breast Cancerin Jan 2014 after finding a lump the week before Christmas. I had a partial mastectomy the following month and bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction at the end of October.

  • Hi Mary = welcome here. Sorry to hear about the cancer = but pleased that it has been treated. We are off today up to the hospital for my wifes rectal cancer = Mr. C. came to live with us over two years ago.

I wonder what feelings you had on hearing the dignosis?

We wish you all the best news

    Steven

  • Hi Steven,  sorry to hear about your wifes cancer, I hope her treatment is successful.  You asked how I felt about my diagnosis ! Well to be honest I had been waiting on it for 18yrs since my sister died of it. I asked for no sugar coating,  just straight facts and to hold nothing back as thats how I deal with things, head on.

A cancer nurse told me that she felt that a positive attitude was 70% of the battle already won, and I intend to win. The gatecrasher as I call it wasnt invited to my party so I kicked its butt, and will continue to kick its butt. I know it was invasive but the mastectomy seen to that. They cant guarantee it wont return, but have given me a 70% chance that it wont in the next 5yrs. If Im honest that is my main worry now, that the gatecrasher will return and try to wreck my party again but I refuse to dwell on these thoughts for long. My life is for living and I intend to do just that.
