47, Lobular Cancer

So so lucky, got an early breast screening at 47; did not expect this result, no family history, no signs or lumps, Thank goodness for the early invite, gonna kick butt April 1st

  • Hi Deb67 = love your positive post  -yea - kick butt hard from me as well!!! Welcome here = I bet you are quite shocked - but at least it was found and will be dealt with.

The funny thing - if you look around this web site is just how many people come here who would not be seen as a risk. Out of the blue these things come - and back into space they have to go!!! We burned all our hospital letters and appointment cards this evening = we had loads since my wife had her colon cancer diagnosis. Burned the lot! It feels so clensing!!

well, you are just at the beginning of the journey - so let me give you a cuddle and say - that the secret used by seasoned mountaineers - is not to climb the mountain all in one go = just take one little step and a time - and you will soon get to the top. We have another appointment with the Beak (cancer doc) tomorrow.

I remember when I heard of my wifes cancer - the first thing I did was change my hair style!!

All the best = first of April will come quickly round and keep busy until then. There are many people here who know first hand about this and will help. They will come on later

Bestest wishes to you and your family

    Steven xx

Welcome Deb .... and all the very best to you as you begin treatment on the 1st. Please keep us posted as to how you are getting on and feel free to ask any questions along the way as many here have been through the treatment and should be able to help you x

  • Hi Debb67,

So glad you were lucky enough to get that invite to be screened, funnily enough I was invited just after my diagnosis. I am two years down the line now.

Wishing you all the best for your treatment.

  • Oh thank you so much for your kind words, cannot believe how you got that invite even though diagnosed, It really makes me realize how very lucky I am, take care for the future, I will kick butt starting April 1st
  • Thank you so much, it's the wee hours, could not sleep, a little anxious as it's getting closer, certainly will use this page, chuffed already with the feedback x
  • Just read your post Steven, thanks again. I am so thankful this was found and I will stay positive, if not just for me, but for every other victim, love to your wife, sending her hugs xx
  • Hi, I was diagnosed with grade2 invasive ductal breast cancer last year. No chemo as grade 2 and under 2.5cms  (  it was 2cms  ). No radiotherapy either as I elected for a double mastectomy with reconstruction from tissue from my abdomen.

I wish you well for your surgery. I was like you ready to kick its ***. Coudnt get it done quickly enough . I called it a gatecrasher, and it wasnt invited to my party so was time to evict it from the premises.  My tumour was hormone based so I take hormone inhibitor Tamoxifen for 2yrs then changing it for at least 3 more. Unlike you I have a strong family history.  My gran had 3 out of 5 siblings with breast cancer and out of 3 of us myself and my sister Marion have had it too. I worry when I think of my daughters and grandaughter's.

  • Hi, Wow love your interpretation of this nasty little nugget, you know I was never told the size, he explinef and pointed the area on my breast then explained first step MRI to make sure it had nor spread, luckily not so all I know now is surgery on 1st then said #3wks every day radiotherepty then tablets, you made the right decedion, my thoughts were if it had spread I would want double masactomy, even though there is no family history, I want rid for good, thankyou for sharing your story and every positive happiness x
