Hi. May name is julie. I am 54 years old.and I am being treated for a gist

  • Hi Julie, welcome to the forum. I'm not familiar with your diagnosis, but if you provide more info, perhaps it will help me to understand more about it. People on this forum are very caring and supportive, so come back on and chat anytime. In the meantime, my response to your post will bump you back to the first of the topics so perhaps someone familiar with your diagnosis will have more knowledge of it.

    Take care.

  • Hello Julie,

Welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

We have some information on our About Cancer web page that might be of help to you. It has lots of information on gastrointestinal stromal tumour and I have linked it for you hereIt also includes a link to GIST Support UK if you haven't already found them.

We also have a gret team of nurses who you can call to talk to if you have any specific questions or queries that you think they might be able to help with. You can call them free from a UK landline Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I also wanted to link you to a thread here that hopefully will help you to make contact with more people here on the forum.

    Sending our best wishes,

  • Thank you jenn. Would be nice to speak to people who have the same as me.
  • Thanks Lorraine. When I went to the doctor they thought I ovarian cancer. But when they operated they found this sarcoma tumour. It was attached to my bowel and bladder. They have removed the tumour but I was left with cancer seedlings. Chemo and radiation doesn't work on this type of cancer. So I am a tablet called glivec which is supposed to put these seedlings to sleep. I have a pet scan on the 1st of April to see if there working.
