Hello I am another new member to this forum
Last year I experienced excruciating upper abdominal pain and was taken into hospital on a couple of occasions, where on each occasion I had to stay overnight. The doctors tried several types of pain relief tablets on me and nothing worked. Finally, I was told that they had given me morphine and that did the trick.
Following the second hospital visit last year though they decided to make an appointment for me to have an ultrasound scan. Following this scan I was told I had gallstones and had to follow a low fat diet, which I had been doing.
However in January I had to spend 5 days in hospital because I woke up early one morning with excruciating upper abdominal pain again. I was told I had a blood infection as I had a feeling of boiling up inside and despite having my heating on at full I then a couple of minutes later felt freezing and in need of another layer of clothing. It took them about 4 days to reduce my temperature. During the same hospital stay the gave me an X-ray, ultrasound scan and MRI scan, following which I was told that the lining of ny gall bladder had thickened and I had a couple of small gallstones in my bile duct. The surgeons had decided that I should arrange a discussion with a Consultant regarding the removal of my gall bladder.
Following that discussion yesterday with the Consultant I was taken by surprise to be told that I had gallstones and a small chance and they could not rule out my having gallbladder cancer. Needless to say this shocked me a little and I am still absorbing the news.
Looking forward then to having future discussions regarding gallbladder cancer with others who have experienced this or are experiencing this.
